Damo Leaves Sky Blue
It's been years in the making, but finally Damian Vicary is heading for pastures new. Sky are said to 'be missing the big man already'. Will he be back? Sources close to Damo suggest that may depend on how well Auntie views his special brand of 'humour'.Mails to: damo@damo365.com
Yoshi - A Testimonial
We've not seen this before!
On the eve of Damian Vicary’s departure, Yoshi reflects
on his time with one of the three greatest Super Mario Smash Football
players of all time.
'When Damo first started he couldn't settle on his Captain. He went right through the lot, even trying a couple of games with Kong, but he gave me a shot and we just seemed to click. It was like we were made for each other. Some even say that we could have been separated at birth, such is the physical likeness between us.
What made us so right for each other, though, was his absolute determination to crush, humiliate and belittle anyone we were playing. Even when victory was assured he used to drive us forward trying to keep clean sheets or getting double figures goals. His thirst for violence is second to none. With Damo the hits just keep on coming and the nastier they can be the better – he’s always very fond of nailing Daisy up against the fence and making her scream for mercy, but hey - who isn't!
It's not always been easy though. There have been some dark times. I remember a particularly bad Friday afternoon where we were spanked by Daisy and the Hammer Bros 4-zip. That really hurt the big man and he really let us know about it. I can tell you that the hair dryer treatment from Damo is as bad as the rumours say, but the guys know he just does it because he cares; and once it's over it's all forgotten.
Damo's always been a bit of visionary, he introduced the chip and volley and was even the first to score straight from kick off – he even let the other players know how to do it after about a week! He also worked the hardest, putting the hours in on the training ground and sometimes it paid off. SMSF will miss him, but I think the Toads and I will miss him more.’
If I didn’t know better I'd say there was a tear in Yoshi's eye as we finished the interview...
The Voice Lingers
High horse, Damo
There was good news for new BBC employee Damian Vicary yesterday, when it was announced that the voices of his ex-colleagues would accompany him to the BBC. Colin Ravey will be providing the voice of the vending machine, offering poorly pronounced Italian bread products, Simon Duce will be intoning the floor numbers of the lift (Damo's on the 300th floor), while his Outlook Express has been configured so that Dan Chronnell runs down his daily task list.
'I'm naturally thrilled,' Damo sobbed.
